To acknowledge the effectiveness of proper handwashing in battling against the pandemic, New Era High School (NEHS) celebrated Global Handwashing Day 2021 with the theme “Malinis na kamay Para sa Kinabukasan ng Bayan”, on October 15 at 1-4 pm via online streaming. NEHS Principal, Dr. Ferdinand Fontillo gave his message while the newly elected PRO Agatha Atun and the NEHS Dance Club rendered virtual song and dance presentations respectively. The guest speaker and NEHS School Nurse, Mr. Narciso E. Costales Jr. provided a helpful guide to proper handwashing, a way to combat the spreading of COVID-19.

“Ang paghuhugas ng kamay ay isa sa mga mabisang paraan para makaiwas sa mga nakakahawang sakit.”

“Handwashing is one of the most effective ways to prevent contagious illnesses,” says Costales.

Below are the six steps in proper hand washing as instructed by the DOH:

1. Wet hands with water and apply soap; 2. Lather soap, rub hands together, palm-to-palm and in between fingers; 3. Rub back of one hand with the palm of your other hand; 4. Rub fingertips of each hand in opposite palm; and 5. Rub both hands with fingers then rinse thoroughly with running water.
